Around 130 stakeholders gathered to evaluate the DARWIN resilience management guidelines in Linköping (Sweden) on 5th September 2017.
The pilot exercise was organised by the Swedish Defence Research Agency (Totalförsvarets forskningsinstitut, FOI) and the Centre for Teaching and Research in Disaster Medicine and Traumatology (Katastrofmediciniskt centrum, KMC).
The simulation exercise, which took place at KMC, combined the FOI’s simulation tools with KMC’s methodology for simulating and evaluating efforts in disaster medicine. FOI’s tools support the simulation of a large number of resources, such as land, sea and air, and logistics processes with actual geography.
The full-day exercise attracted a broad range of stakeholders, including health care and transport experts, fire-fighters, coastguards and policy makers. The exercise was carried out using a realistic accident scenario and gave interested parties a unique opportunity to participate in the evaluation of the DARWIN resilience management guidelines.
